Baked Chicken with Honey and Mustard





This simple and flavorful dish is always a hit. Perfect for beginners, it requires only a few ingredients and steps to create a delicious meal.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4 chicken thighs or breasts (skin-on or skinless, as you prefer)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon (about 2 tablespoons)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  • Prepare the marinade: In a small bowl, mix honey, mustard, minced garlic, and lemon juice. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to enhance the flavours.
  • Marinate the chicken: Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl or a resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the chicken, making sure each piece is well coated. Cover the bowl or seal the bag, and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. For better flavour, marinate for up to 2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  • Arrange the chicken: Place the marinated chicken pieces in the prepared baking dish. Pour any remaining marinade over the top for extra flavour.
  • Bake the chicken: Bake in the preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 75°C (165°F) when checked with a meat thermometer.
  • Serve and enjoy: Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes after baking. Serve it with your favourite sides, such as rice, vegetables, or a fresh salad.

Tips for Success:

  • If you prefer a crispier texture, broil the chicken for the last 2-3 minutes of baking.
  • Use bone-in chicken for juicier results, but boneless works great for faster cooking.
  • Adjust the sweetness or tanginess by adding more honey or lemon juice to the marinade.
